"Full and active participation of every member of society — in civic, social, economic, and decision-making life."
Who We Are
Anant Foundation for Innovation and Social Inclusion (AFISI) is a New Delhi-based non-profit founded in 2016. We focus on social innovations that ensure inclusive growth in a progressive society — facilitating full and active participation of every member in all aspects of life.
AFISI was founded to explore innovative ideas, implement and test them, and develop out-of-the-box solutions that challenge the common narrative. We pursue positive framework change with long-lasting, sustainable, and transformative impact.
AFISI is registered under 80G and 12A (Income Tax Act, Government of India), enabling all grants, donations, and contributions to qualify for tax exemption. AFISI is also registered to receive CSR contributions under the Companies Act, 2013.
"We look at positive framework change — with a long, sustainable, and transformative impact on society."
What We Do
From Northeast India to Rajasthan, our work spans agriculture, livelihoods, eye health, education, and community sport.
Agriculture · Meghalaya
Mobilised over 20,000 farmers across four blocks through the Farmer's Collectivisation for Upscaling Production and Marketing Systems project. Established producer groups, imparted training, and built vital market infrastructure in collaboration with the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency.
Agro-processing · South Garo Hills
State-of-the-art jackfruit processing unit at Gulpani Nokat, Rongara — inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya in February 2024. Processing over 700 MT annually, aiming to quadruple incomes for ~8,000 farmers and create 100+ youth jobs. Featured in The Architectural Review as one of the top 15 sustainable designs globally. Powered by a 100KW solar system.
Livelihoods · ASHOKA & IKEA Foundation
In collaboration with ASHOKA India and the IKEA Foundation, this initiative targets 8,000 new livelihoods across Meghalaya, addressing economic empowerment and sustainable development at scale.
Aquaculture · Ri-Bhoi
AFISI's first ADTS in Marngar village trains fish farmers on breeding, harvesting, and processing — with market linkages that help aquaculture households earn higher, more reliable incomes.
Livelihoods · Ri-Bhoi
CSR-funded unit establishing lemongrass value chains in Borkhotsari. The Marngar Multipurpose Cooperative Society — 16 members, 11 women — manages operations, with additional INR 82 lakh approved by MBMA for scale.
Eye Health · Pan-India
Partnered with DOT Glasses (Czech Republic) to train Vision Care Entrepreneurs providing affordable eye testing in Meghalaya and Odisha. Earlier ran free check-up camps in Delhi/NCR and Rajasthan, benefiting 500+ informal sector workers.
Community · Marngar
A football tournament for the farming community, first held in March 2022 with 11 teams. Powered by the Red Horns Division (Indian Army), the event uses sport as a community mobilisation tool to address seed banks, youth engagement, and collective action.
Education · Meghalaya
Equipping youth with future-ready skills through experiential learning centres — covering problem-solving, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship.
Women's Empowerment · Delhi/NCR & Rajasthan
With Action Aid India and the European Commission, AFISI trained 5,000 women in entrepreneurship and skill development, connecting them to markets and helping generate sustainable incomes.
Education · Nagaland
MOU signed with Social Service Society, Nagaland to establish a Children's Educational Park in Mokokchung — featuring a green gym, museum-library, indigenous plants garden, and recreational hall with Mission LiFE climate themes.
